Our sweet little Eleanor Cosette was baptized a few weeks ago! Honestly, there are very few things that compare with holding a freshly baptized baby for me... the scent of chrism oil from her little head is still lingering in the closet where her gown is hanging, because I just can't bear to pack it away yet. And this particular baptism, after such a tremendously hard pregnancy (seriously we're all still reeling from what a rough year it was!) to know that we pulled through it all and now, here we are, welcoming another tiny baby into the church, it's overwhelming. There was such a stirring in my heart about it all and I nearly broke down in tears several times during mass! We're just so happy that Ellie is with us and it was such a blessing to have her baptized here, in a parish we love so much.
And then of course, there's her gown. I'd been dreaming up something classic for her baptismal gown and am so happy with how it turned out. I wanted it to be really simple but with some lace and kind of feminine. I've made baptismal garments for all of our babies (using the fabric from my wedding dress and cotton muslin) and it's something I really love doing for them. We don't have anything to pass down from our families so my hope is these will be passed on someday :) Although we do joke that that the gowns are getting better with each baby. ha ha
Welcome to the church little Eleanor! We had a wonderful day celebrating you!
"The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace."
△ family pictures these days just crack me up... Violet and Eleanor totally passed out and Akemi striking her little modeling pose. And I didn't even realize until mass was over that Henry had cougey with him the entire time! so that's why a stuffed cougar is in all of our pictures.
△ God Bless you baby Ellie!
